A bachelors degree is a 4 year degree awarded after you have completed the four years. It's like learning the basics of any given course of study. A masters degree is usually a 6 year degree (4 years for bachelor + 2 years study after bachelors=Masters) that builds on what you have already learned which gives you a more indepth understanding of that particular course of study.

In the USA you would normally study four years to get a Bachelor in Arts or a Bachelor in Science. You have to take about forty courses to get these degrees. BA is more liberal arts - history, English, languages, etc. BS is more like biology, chemistry, etc.
About 1/3rd to 1/2 of the courses you take will be general studies and the other half will be courses in your major subject.
Although the program is supposed to be completed in four years, about half of American students take 5 to 6 years to complete.
After you complete your BA you can go on to do a Master's degree. There are quite a few different kinds. They focus on advanced study in the same area or a closely related area to what your major was when you were working on your BA. It takes about 2 years to do an academic MA or MS at a university, but some Masters can be completed more quickly. People in industry know the scoop and know how to judge the value of the degree, so don't try to take any shortcuts! if you take a MA as a part time student it can take several years, but often a company will pay part of the tuition!

A Bachelor's Degree is the step after an Associates Degree (first two years of college). Many jobs want you to have a Bachelor's Degree because that means you now have four years of college with a two years of learning whatever you specialized in. A Master's Degree is another two years of specialization.

In a nutshell, An friends is a 2 three hundred and sixty 5 days degree (often from a community college), Bachelor a 4 three hundred and sixty 5 days, and Masters' is previous that- time varies yet averages 3 years to get. A Masters can purely be popular completetion of a Bachelors and is considered "graduate degree", so maximum folk do not even situation about that (many do not even get one) till sucessful completeion of a 4 three hundred and sixty 5 days application. yet, if you're searching right into a school, your likely searching at a 4 three hundred and sixty 5 days degree, that is an outstanding thanks to flow. yet, many human beings attend an section community college for 2 years (becuase that's more cost-effective), take all the basic classes which will be required for ANY degree, then flow on to a 4 three hundred and sixty 5 days college to get thier Bachelors. even though it quite relies upon on what you want to finish that far as artwork/occupation. refer on your college education counselor to pinpoint which driection is ideal for you. yet definately do it, you'd be happy you probably did. good success.

In the UK, a bachelor's degree is an undergraduate, or first, degree; it usually takes 3 years. British students usually study one subject (or sometimes two) in depth, rather than covering a broad range of different subjects. A master's degree is usually a postgraduate degree, which you do after completing your bachelor's degree, and takes another year (although sometimes you may come across courses which take you straight through to master's level within the same course, over 4 years).
Hope this helps, end enjoy your studies!

A bachelors is a 4 yr. degree. The masters is the degree after that-most people get it after they start working after the bachelors. It's the difference of $$$$$$ a year. The Masters is usually a lot of work on your own-no test, but big projects or papers.

Wow there are a lot of misleading answers to your question. The best answer if probably Matt's but I'm going to answer this as shortly and simply as possible. The master's is a degree you get after your bachelor's that is usually for professional reasons, like an MBA (master's in business administration). It usually is used for professional advancement and takes an average of 1-2 years.

The Bachelors degree took 5 years to complete and cost me $25,000. The Masters degree took 3 years and cost me $35,000.
So, those two pieces of paper are worth quite a bit!
I worked full time while pursuing each degree. Also, it was worth every penny!! Go for it!!
