I'm moving to Maryland in less than 2 weeks as a spur of the moment idea to be with someone i truly love. I'm rather scared because i dont know anything about the Severn or any attractions out there. I have lived in Colorado all my life and have never bothered to venture out to the east coast. Can someone give me some ideas of things to do or go see when i get there?

I now live in Maryland because that's where the navy stationed me. It's been great so far. DC is awesome to visit and there is plenty to do. Baltimore has lots of things, the harbor area is so cool. There is also things in Virginia and Pennsylvania that are interesting if you like history. The taxes seem high though, and I am from California, the land of taxes. We just got orders to Patuxent River and moved from Maine last October and it's much better. The people think it's cold, but if you're from Colorado (my Grandparents live in Grand Junction, CO) you should have NO problems. Its snows very little and everyone freaks out, schools close over 2 inches. it's crazy. But we've enjoyed it so far.

It is a LOT more humid in Maryland, at least in the summer. People will freak out if it snows more than an inch or two. I grew up about 5 miles from Washington DC and it's a great city to visit, not so much to live. The people aren't very friendly. However, the museums in Washinton DC (Smithsonian) are world-class and absolutely worth seeing. The monuments and parks in DC are really pretty. And there is great seafood, especially if you're near the Chesapeake or Baltimore.
