If you have intercourse at the most opportune period of your menstrual cycle, around the time of ovulation (when the egg is released from the ovary), and neither you nor your partner have any ferility problems, the you have a roughly 25% percent chance of conceivig. At other times of your menstrual cycle, because sperm survives for only three days and there may be no egg available to be fertilized, the chances of conceiving are much less. An egg may be released from the ovary at times other then midcycle, however.
