Lagaan lost it bcoz at that time, america was under the effect of 9/11 attacks. So they liked an anti-war movie more than an anti-colonization movie.
About Rang De Basanti, I dont exactly know. But I do believe that the other movies nominated would be definitely good, if not better than that.

No... there is no attainable techniques... i think of itz already out of the race.... i dont think of so... lagaan became an superb action picture! it had the rhythm, the patriotic feeling, storyline, thrill, screenplay, music each and every thing in place.. rang de basanti wasnt that inspiring in accordance to me. despite if the action picture and the music have been the great hit and set the field place of work registers ringing, it doesnt tournament with lagaan.

lagaan did enter the last five becoz it showed poor indians but lost out to a better movie. Whereas rang de basanti didn't show poverty and old thoughts, whereas most of the americans yet feel india is a poor country land of snakes and sadhus.

lagaan made it in the final oscar nominations but didn't win because it wasnt better than the other countries and i heard on the radio that rag de basanti didnt win because of war or violence or something

the only reason is see is that the oscar guys r white and they cant c any other countries film winning the pretigious award so the discard the movies...
water was chosen because the of canada took it as the candidate...

Definetly these movies are out of the race firstly due to time duration of the movie and secondly these are from bollywood which is the only counterpart of them.

tis coz wen we watch those films, dere is a feeling of love 4 our nation within us. so we can understand de movies better. de oscar guys dont c de movie from our point of view.

our indian cinema board has not sent subtitles for any of the films and how could those foreigners understand our language......
