This is a question for men and women.

Most men I notice that wear spandex shorts wear them under a pair of regular shorts. I tend to switch -- wearing spandex shorts by themselves or under shorts.

I usually wear spandex shorts, and occassionally long tights. When I ran the marathon I wore spandex long tights, and noticed there were a lot of men wearing spandex shorts and tights as well. And it was no big deal to anyone.

Why do some men and women have a problem with men wearing spandex? Especially women, since they wear spandex as well. That's a sexist double-standard. I don't wear spandex as leisure (going to the movies, grocery shopping, etc.), but just for exercising and sport.

I wear spandex almost everytime I work out. What is your feeling on men wearing spandex?

Some women may say because they're seeing your "junk." For one, it depends how tight the spandex are. And if they are black spandex, you shouldn't see anything. Secondly, if you have a shirt on, it should cover whatever needs to be covered. Also, I can't count how many cameltoes I have seen on women wearing spandex.

When I wear spandex shorts at the gym, most people don't seem to notice or care, which is a good thing. Although I have caught a few glances by women and men. It's also refreshing when there are several other men in the gym wearing spandex, as I won't feel like the "only man" wearing it.

On a side note, I can understand some women who say "no to spandex," and I'm talking about the women that hate wearing spandex themselves. But the ones that wear spandex and don't want to see it on guys, I don't understand. Football players wear spandex. As do most male athletes.

I am a fitness person myself and i can relate to what you are saying.I always wear spandex to the gym with a tight t-shirt that covers you know what, but i still get funny looks usually from men,not from women.I really don't know what to say about that issue, because i see men working out in blue jeans at the gym.The only answer i can possibly come up with is that most men are afraid to be seen in certain types of clothes mostly because of what other men will think about them. why they care i don't know.As far as women are concerned i have gotten quite a few complements on the way i look in my workout clothes, and the women that wear spandex but say they don't like on men i only have one word HYPOCRITE'S

I like Spandex too. It's really comfortable... so is being naked. If your taking a spinning class then there is NO substitute for it... unless you really enjoy having your nutsack assume the painfull appearance of two bright red softballs fused together. Actually, anyone NOT wearing either lycra or spandex on a bike looks like a geek, and actually IS a geek. Just my opinion. After you get off the bike, go to the locker room and bag the spandex... or put a pair of shorts over them. You'll still have the comort level, as will the patrons of your gym. In case you don't know, when you wear the "second skin" the gay guys think your gay, and will not only be checking you out in the locker room, but now they'll be checking you out in the gym as well.... not that there's anything wrong with it. Even if you have a delicate flower for a package you'll still elicit "knee jerk" glances. You may say: "yeah, well, if you got it, flaunt it..." There's one significant problem with that. Remember the Sienfeld episode and the "shrinkage factor"?. Check this out: Do about 10 to 15 pullups in front off a mirror. By the 7th or 8th rep your "horn of plenty" will have shrunk enough to make a vienna sausage look like a cannon. A far cry from the slyly, half-coiled kilbosa you started out with. Another thing to consider. Guys routinely wear baggy shorts in the gym. Why? Because they've nearly all got flamingo legs. Why? Because all they do gather at the the bench press for some male bonding and some serious orgasmic grunting. It's the the big chest syndrome. The result of this is usually short guys with bird legs connected to this massively disproportionate upper bod. Possibly that's why chicks don't seem to mention much about guys legs on their top ten male attributes lists: "...First, I look for a sense of humor,...then I like to see some of the my Dad in him, ...Next, I like a man to be financially successful, gainfully employed, independently wealthy,.... Oh, yeah, he should have a nice butt." They like guys butts. Just not in lycra. Just for the record, I've never seen a non-cyclist who looked like anything but a dork while struting around a gym in spandex or lycra. this goes for the ladies too...unless your Madonna. Sorry... -john micheal

Spandex certainly catches the eye. And well I love watching football players in spandex! I agree that I do not see many people wearing spandex at all. On occasion (and I am a female) I have worn spandex. So if you are comfortable with wearing it at the gym or wherever, do so. And be happy that you are one of the few that is comfortable with his own body to be wearing it!

I think that it's really weird looking when men wear spandex. The tighter, the weirder. I also think it looks weird on women too. Spandex should be only worn under shorts, when working out, running, etc. or by sports players. It's kind of weird to wear them as leisure. It's kind of nasty when you see a man wearing spandex and I "see your junk". I also hate cameltoes too. The bottom line is, spandex is fine as long as it's for exercise and sports and that it's not too tight.
