after watching a programme about child geniuses the other night, one teacher of philosophy asked this precocious kid what he could do without, logic or emotions. The kid replied emotions cos he'd never know sadness but the teacher said you'd never know happiness either. But he stuck with logic because that was the most important thing in life. Which would you, after careful thought, forego, if you HAD to?

downtoearth - emotions also drive people to make and invent things, e.g.wanting to find a cure for cancer after losing someone through it, or finding a faster way to get to or communicate with someone you love/hate

mark K - yes they all had poor social skills, they were still likeable in their way except one, the young boy who had an answer for everything and was arrogant and dismissive of everyone else even at his age (he was one of the older ones).

I saw the programme on channel 4 too, what a little sheltered freak of nature. The whole show was depressing, especially that family of loonies. The one with 4 "Gifted Children". The show was so annoying, the director set up shots of kids reading and much of it was mockumentary. The poor kids, i kept thinking. But sorry for the rant....my answer is..... I believe i would elimate logic, all logic and no emotion equals robot. Life is about emotions and experiencing both joy and depression. Saddly the kids on the show will all grow up with serious issues and a lack of social skills. Ho hum..they can't have it all.

To be honest, I hope that I will never have to sacrifice either. Logic is a useful tool, but emotions are what make life worth living. Without negative emotions, we don't learn how to change circumstances to make positive emotions, nor do we learn how to contrast the two. Logic is knowing how to change the circumstances.
But if I absolutely HAD to, I think I would have to stick with emotion. After all, doing things rationally would cause less damage, both in personal and environmental cases. Of course, this makes one wonder; if I don't want to cause harm to others, could that be because of an emotional response?

I have experienced lots of opportunities in my life when logic has become useful. i.e- maths tests, science stuff, etc etc.
I probably failed everyone one of those maths test because i have NO logic. Emotions, I do have. And if it were a choice between the two, hm, i wonder which I'd choose. You could not live a life without emotions.

logic helps itself from each and every perspective; thoughts are products of our will, they're embodiment what the physique is 'wanting' (starvation, mating/love, soreness, and so on.), your strategies is basically the more desirable gadget that facilitates sparkling up the greater complicated issues that steer away from what your physique is at present in choose for. Perceiving logic negatively? The unfavorable interior the equation arises from abstractions; It would not recommend there is something unfavorable in itself.

I think that if we do not have either logic o r emotion, we will have to put up with it, But if we have got both why should we give up one? Both are needed. Logic makes us act and understand while feeling emotions makes us grateful to the Creator. We should always think in terms of abundance instead of in term of loss.

It would have to be emotions. Emotions without logic would lead you to do totally irrational things (to state the obvious! There really was no pun intended). It would be down-right dangerous!! Down with emotions!

No contest: emotions go. Troublesome, unpredictable things, for all they can deliver (occasional) highs. It's so much effort keeping them under control when they jar against correct logical thoughts and actions.
But then Sherlock Holmes and Spock have always been my heroes.

Emotions obviously. No happiness is a small price to pay for the loss of greed, selfisness, hatred etc. If you had no logic you couldn't determine how to log on to the internet to answer this question!

Both logic and emotion are based on sense. We don't have a choice there; it's either both or none...Unless you're an animal, in which case you wouldn't have a choice either!0!

Although emotions have their downfalls, I would eliminate logic,
the beauty of ones life is based on the emotions one experiences and is the basis for your life, without which you could not measure, love, happiness, sadness, tears...
