As adults, most of us are parents (or uncles/aunts/grandparents, etc.) and teachers (informal as well as the professionals), and the essence of these two roles is to help others realize their potential. I do this all the time. Not that I'm some fabulous person or anything. But I'm a pretty outgoing guy. My friends seem to think I'm pretty funny. Can get a conversation going with strangers when Im out. This is great when I'm hitting on women. But if my friends are engaging a group of women. I'll take a step back and let them run the conversation. Maybe I lay off all the funny guy stuff. Lets them look good. I'm sure they've done the same for me... thats friendship I guess.
