Some cable companies are offering wireless internet connections. It is called satellite communications where you do not use a landline. Road Runner also has that option.

3G mobile connections they are used with a mobile phone sim card and are available on Vodafone but i live in spain so im not sure what other companies provide it! You can go to the shop and buy one for bout 60 pounds i think! you can get it on contract or top up.. top up is a lil bit more expensive because they charge you per 126Mbits that are sent and recieve so its better to get contract if your gonna download... its like a large usb chip that fits into your desk top or Laptop... thats all i really know about it... hope this helps

Like the others say, you can get Internet by cable, you can just have the modem and put a router after yourself or get it all from them, check out their prices first, Or you could get a close neighbour to let you share his / her WIFI set up.

sattelite broadband maybe?

Or I think an apple airport can still be plugged into a dial up connection. Then use onspeed to increase the speed to broadband.
