Your modem does not have an ethernet interface ie an ethernet port to connect it to your router via ethernet cable. There are 2 solutions either get a modem which does or get an ADSL wireless modem router (as opposed to just a wireless router) which combines the router & modem in the one unit..like the Netgear's DG834G range.

The voyager 105 is powered by the usb. It isn't designed to plug into a router.

I used to have one, but I upgraded to a BT Home Hub. This is a router. It has 2 x Ethernet, 1 x USB, 1 x VOIP and wireless connections.

Unless your modem is a USB modem, it needs an AC adapter to give it power - it looks like a round plug.

Note:
There are two kinds of cords that look like phone cords - phone cords and ethernet cords.

The difference?
Phone chords have 4 wires in them. Ethernet have 6 - 8.

More details would be nice, I think you are using the wrong cable. You are probably using a usb cable to connect it to your PC instead of a ethernet cable. Ethernet is kind of looks like a phone jack.
--------------
If it is a usb modem then you could go 2 diferent directions. First you could microsofts built in internet connection wizard to share. Just keep the modem hooked up to the primary computer the way it is and use an ethernet cable to connect the computer to the router and then just run the connection wizard on all the computers you want to use the internet.

The second option is pretty much the same but instead of using the internet connection wizard you will use a proxy server. You can get a pretty good free proxy server from http://www.analogx.com It comes with pretty good instructions but the basics is just going into the primary computer with the modem pluged directly into it. Open the control pannel and in normal view (or "catigory view") and click on network and internet connections. When your in here click on network connections. Double click on your network card and in the list go down to internet protocol (tcp/ip). Double click on it and click on use the following ip address. Use the following ip address for your main computer "192.168.0.1" and sub net mask "255.255.255.0". Run analogx's proxy server. Go to the computer you want to use the internet share on and set its ip address to "192.168.0.X" Replace X with any number greater than 1, I normally use "192.168.0.2". If you have a 3rd computer doing the same with "192.168.0.3" and all sub net masks to "255.255.255.0". Now on the computers besides the one with the modem pluged directly into it you will need to set up internet explorer and any other program that connects to the internet to grab the internet from the proxy server. It is just a matter of going into tools->internet options, then click on the tab that says connections and click on lan settings. There is a place to put the ip address and port number from analogx , just put in "192.168.0.1" with port # "6588"

Do you have the right router ?

Are you broadband or do you get your ISP down a phone line ?

You have to match the router to the modem.
