Why should I do your homework? You should do it yourself. Asking tohers isn't gonna get you through school.

I'm sorry. I see so many kids nowadays ruining their lives with no thought. And then when they grow up complaining and asking for handouts.
Sorry. let me try to help, although more information would be nice.
I assume that you are refessing to Michael Bloomberg of NY.

The issue here seems to obviously be polotics. Parents are complaining that schools need to be reformed, and as mayor he has to do something. Personally I really don't think that an extra week of school is really going to help. How much more can you learn in a week.
It seems that he is avoiding the real issue, which is that schools need more money and better teachers. Adding an extra week of school is most likely a way for people to get off his back long enough for his term to end, then he won't be responsible any more. He can just pass off the problems to some else.
The real problem is more of a conundrum than anything else. Parent don't want to do what is necessary to make sure that their children are doing well, so they blame politics, and schools financial issues. politicians in turn have to put on a band-aid to make their voters happy without telling them that they are lazy and stupid.
If parents really wanted their children to do well these wouldn't be issues. That is why some, many but some, inner city students excell. They have parents that want better for them. I am guessing that is why you are an "A+" student, you have parents that want you to excel.
My daughter goes to a great school and her grades slid until me and my wife became more active with her education.
Hope you can sift through this and find your answer.
