I hate when people say don't be a wuss, makes me feel like a failure. I had to have one after 8 hours because the baby got stuck, no way she was coming out, she was really distressed. I know childbirth hurts like hell, I had the contractions and they weren't pleasant. But a c section takes a long time to recover from, it's scary being awake having your stomach cut open. It's horrible to have the needle put into your spine. I didn't like it one little bit. I couldn't look after my baby properly and relied on everybody else. Horrible.

If there's no real health reason for a c section, then natural delivery has to be the best in the long run. It may be a bit of a struggle, but the feeling of utter euphoria when the baby's finally born makes it all worthwhile. The pain is forgetten, you can start bonding immediately and there's no abdominal wound to heal. A C section is, after all, an operation from which the mother needs to recover, and trying to recover and get to grips with the new routine a new baby brings can be difficult. Natural, definitely.

I find this a tough question as I have been through both of them, I had a normal delivery with my first and a section with my second and I really dont know which I would prefer, i had a hard time with my first baby, had a vacuum delivery and haemorraged twice and he was in special care for a week and with the section it took me almost 2 weeks to recover but I had hardly any period afterwards which was absolutely brilliant, you really need lots of help around you if you have a section as you cant even cough without being in agony never mind looking after a baby, i dont know what I will do next time, the decision might be made for me again anyway so I mightn't have a choice

I have had 4 babies . 3 were normal delivery and my last baby was delivered by emergency c-section as she was 10.5 lbs and i have say although my c-section was totally painless (at the time) i did prefer my normal deliveries . The satisfaction and relief at the same time was wonderful and i was back to normal in no time .. After my section i was pretty immobile for a week as it was sheer agony to walk due to the wound not to mention if you sneezed or coughed OUCH !! . Here in Scotland sections are only carried out where really necessary , you can`t say to the gynae how you want to deliver , it will be normal unless there are complications ..

What you need to know:
Cesarean section (c-section) is delivery of a baby by surgery. An incision (cut) is made in the mother's belly and uterus (womb). According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 1 in 3 babies in the United States is delivered by cesarean section.
C-section can be a lifesaving operation when either you or your baby face certain problems before or during labor and delivery. Many women who deliver surgically do not expect it. Most cesarean sections go well for both the mother and the baby.
Some health care experts believe that many c-sections are medically unnecessary. A cesarean section is major surgery and should be done only when the health of the mother or baby is at risk.
What you can do:
Learn about cesarean section well before your due date so you will be prepared if you need to be. Talk to your health care provider about c-section.

I think that doctors and moms are way off base in doing C-sections for convenience. It should only happen when the mom or baby is in danger. In the city I live, it seems like doctors will break the water when a mom isn't in labor to try to start it, only to have to do a c-section 24 hours later because labor didn't go along.
And if you are concerned about the pain of natural childbirth, HAVE AN EPIDURAL, it's probably much nicer than a post-operative incision!

The best form is definitely natural! I am 20 years old, and I gave birth to my first child last April completely natural. It was such a wonderful experience (not at the time, but now that I look back, it is). C sections take much longer to heal, and you must stay in the hospital longer- who wants that? Do it natural.

im not sure if im the best person to answer this q but ive had 3 children and all were born 'normally' my first was born with the help of forceps ( not nice) i had an epidural. then i went on to have 2 girls both natural- no pain relief. first time around i never recovered till wks later but with my 2nd and 3rd i felt great as soon as i had given birth. so i can imagine how much time it takes to recover from a c/section. so i would have to say its a natural delivery every time

Assuming it's not a high risk pregnancy, definitely natural! So much quicker and easier to recover from, pain relief can be very effective and is also much better for Mother and baby's health and bonding. Ignore the horror stories of labour and delivery that some women wear like a badge of honour - most are vastly exaggerating!

women were made to give birth naturally its only with medicine and cinics that c sections came into it i had to have an emergency section after going through all of the labour including pushing and they dragged me into theater i felt like i'd been robbed of it and it took me 6 weeks to recover my scar kept splitting and the only thing you can lift is your baby your not allowed to do much else and your on painkillers so why go through all of that when you can have the pleasure of being the first person to hold your baby and have your partner cut the cord you can't replace that i had it stolen form me no way to get it back have a natural defo.
also there will be complications when you have a second child like the indide scar ripping with contractions causing the baby to become destressed and possibility of a histerectomy if anything else goes wrong, go natural all the way
