How do you clean a mouse?

Question

Not clean the living kind for cooking. I mean clean the computer kind so that I don't want to throw it through the window.

Also I need a new mouse pad- any suggestions for getting a free one?

Why not consider buying an optical mouse? They don't have moving parts and therefore don't need cleaned. They can be bought for under £10.

Hi,
If ur talking about a 'ball' mouse then what u have to do is turn the mouse upside down. Then u will see a socket where the ball is kept it. Place two fingers around that socket and gently turn it around anti clockwise. It should open. Then take the ball out, wash it with water and then dry it thorougly then blow hard into the socket where the ball is placed.

Then pop the ball back in and lock the socket by turning it around again and that it!

I am not sure about getting a free one but u can buy a mouse pad cheaply literally any where.

I got an optical mouse for about $20 bucks. I love it. Tossed out the ball one.

i cleaned mine because an idiot informatician where I work told me I can open and clean it.
But he forgot to mention that people who know nothing about this shouldn't do it.
Of course it was impossible to put it back in place properly and I had to buy a new one. I made the same mistake with the key board few months later.

But I'm sure the producers make these things this way so you have to buy new ones.
