I like the superchargers for the Hummers. I would highly suggest a “Roots” type or “Twin Screw” type of supercharger. You might want to look at a Magnacharger supercharger system. These are Roots type superchargers that have a built in intercooler into the manifold. The benefits of going with a Roots type supercharger is that it will give you tons of HP and torque in the lower RPM range all the way through the redline on your RPM. A turbo or even a centrifugal supercharger CANNOT offer you that. A turbo will give you more power in the mid RPM range all the way through redline. That means that your hummer will still feel slow and sluggish off of the line.

Since the Roots type supercharger gives you great HP and Torque in the lower RPM band, that means it will help you in towing, streetlight-to-streetlight power, and passing.

Another benefit that the Magnacharger offers is that it releases around 1psi when driving normally. It has a built in bypass system which makes this possible. This makes your engine overall more efficient, where your engine does not have to work as hard to produce HP. This can result in better fuel economy. So under normal driving conditions you can expect usually around the same fuel economy and in some cases even better fuel economy.

On top of all this, these systems are C.A.R.B. approved which basically means that it will pass smog and that the system is legal. Another great thing about the supercharger systems is that they are 100% complete so nothing else is needed.

In my opinion the supercharger will be the better way to go. They are going to offer more reliability, they are legal, 100% complete, and they will offer you tons of HP and Torque in the lower RPM band, which is needed on the Hummers, and they are backed up with a warranty.

BTW. They set the supercharger systems at a safe level so that they will be reliable. If you did want more power out of it you can change the pulley and do additional tuning to it. This will give you more power however I will recommend that you build up the bottom end of your engine if you are going to run more boost out of it.

Supercharger! Its easier and more efficient for the engine you have. Turbocharging envolves way too much stuff and your engine is not even set up for it.You'd probably be looking at 100-115 hp gains which is quite alot considering how big a h2 is. Ha Ha you got me > your driving a vehicle with the worst mpg and is asking about fuel economy, good one. the joke is if you can afford that who thinks about mpg that's nothing.

A turbo charger works full time and is best for overall driving. A supercharger can be full time or rigged to a electric clutch that kicks in when you hit the switch for added power. Both increase the compression depending on the degree of boost and add strain to the engine and require the use of premium fuel.
