Savings is saving for a later time, comsumption is an instant compuming of a resource, it's a negative vs. Postive thing

The relationship is that they are opposite, or they contrast rather than compare. Consumption can be compared to the word "consume," which can be compared to the words "take in," which can be compared to the word "buy," which is all the American government wants you to do. Saving doesn't need to be compared to anything, as that word speaks for itself. But "saving" does contrast to "consumption," "consuming," "taking in," "buying" or "consumerism." The government does not want you to save, they want you to "buy," "buy," "buy."

How's that relationship?

I would say relatively speaking the more you earn the more you can save if you consume wisely.
