No...since the employment of illegal aliens are not subject to legal regulations, the raise in minimum wage will not affect them at all.
However, raising the minimum wage does encourage small business owners to hire illegals. They won't be able to afford to pay their employees the higher salaries, so they will look for other alternatives.

So when did the gates open any further? As far as begging for workers from other countries...yeah...they keep asking for Foreign Workers, but not just from Mexico...from all over the globe especially in the health care industry.
There isn't hardly room in the colleges and universities now for new medical students because it has created a long waiting list. According to my sister-in-law, her granddaughter must wait until 2008 to get into the health programs at the university because of that waiting list. There is one in the state where I live too. So, I don't know where they see a shortage of Americans in the health care industry, do you?
No, I don't see a connection. It does not affect the illegals who do not pay taxes, but I sure wish they'd start imposing strict fines on the corporations who hire illegals.

I'm a Bush supporter, but I do find it odd that he supported the raise in minimum wage. That's very not in keeping with his usual philosophy. I don't think it promotes Mexican illegals, and I do think it will cost jobs and is generally a bad idea. But I do wonder why Bush backed it, unless he thought it would make him seem more cooperative. I further don't agree that "Bush opened the gates to Mexico".

The "gate to Mexiceo" has been open--and Bush didn't have anything to do with raising the minimum wage--the Democrats dod that.
Besides--most of the undocumented workers aren't getting minimum wage anyway--and still won't. That's why the Republicans keep blocking immigration reform--the and they business supporters are making billions because of the fake "illegal" status of the immigrants.

who exactly earns minimum wage??? I Know some bartenders But they really rely on the tips not the check. And I know some Burger King Kids that get it but they are living at home and really use it for spending cash not "Living" I also know a few elderly that probably earn it but are really retired and use it to supplement their SS money and in fact seem to refuse any additional hours as it will "put them over the TOP" So How many really rely on it to Live (percentage wise I mean, I heard less than 1% can that be true?)

If they aren't citizens, they won't get that money. I hope they become citizens. I only have a problem with illegal aliens that don't even bother to learn English, and don't pay taxes.
