the Pats were originally just the Boston Patriots, but the team was changed to the "new england" patriots back when there were a lot less teams in the league. new england, being the birthplace of the country, is an area where the people in the 6 new england states tend to be familiar with all of the other states in the group.

long story short, it made more sense back then than it does now. now practically everyone has a team, but at the conception of league football, there were far fewer, so the people of new england all cheered on the boston team, and eventually the boston team renamed to "New England" patriots.

No, New England is a region, but the Patriots play in Boston, and were formerly known as the Boston Patriots. It is the only football team in New England, although there are 3 in New York.

New England is a region of the United States located in the northeastern corner of the country. It consists of the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have fans all over the country. The steeler nation is huge. The next time you travel look and you will see bars and restaurants that follow football teams that are hundreds to thousand miles away.

No, if you learned American Geography you would learn that all the states above New York to Maine are referred to as "New England region." The team actually started in Boston and was known as the Boston Patriots. They moved to Foxboro and I believe it was before that the name was changed to New England instead. Can't remember when they changed it because it was before I was paying attention, if it was even in my life.
