Yes, the prime of his career was while he was in L.A. he is getting old and has had many injuries lately. I dont think he should have been an all-star.

He's still got some game left in him -- he's just always hurt now a days. By no means does he deserve to be an all star starter but that's the way the voting system is set up now (the best players don't usually get to start because the fans vote for the big names.) Until that's changed, you'll continue to see players like Shaq in the starting lineup.

He had missed 30 games due to a knee injury. When healthy Shaq is still one of the most dominating players in the NBA. The fans voted him in as a starter. There should be a rule change that if you don't play in a certain number of games you cannot start in the All Star game.

The only reason he is any good at all which is just average anymore is because of his size. he has no moves and still just fouls his defender every time he scores as long as he has his foot in the circle the rule they created for him which was bull. for the past couple of years iam under the impression that he isnt even really been hurt he just sits out for over half the season while his teamates (wayne wade ) do all the work then slip back in for playoff time. He is an absolute blunder to the game and when he does play its no fun to watch him anymore . he complains too much like he was the first one to gripe about the new ball. well what does it matter to him hell only play 5 games total and still get paid 40$ million exaggeration but the point is he is a drain on the game and this year iam not going to watch the allstar game just cause he is a starter and is complete bull. he needs to put those icyhot patches on every inch of his old washed up butt and get out there and earn his $$$

I wouldn't call Shaq washed up, but he should not have been a starter in the all-star game this year. Eddy Curry should have been the all-star starting center for the East.

shaq is getting old and his career is winding down, but he is still an all star. If you llok at how Miami was playing when he was injuered compared to how they are playing now, it is obvious that Shaq still has a large impact when he plays. Also, besides Shaq the only other decent Center in the East is Dwight Howard (who is really great but plays more of a power forward/ center than pure center) So, Shaq, even in his old age has a monopoly at the center position and still should be an all star

he isnt completely washed up. he isnt what he used to be, but he still draws tons of attention, he can still block shots and rebound. but he isnt dominating anymore. he will be key if the heat are to make a run at the championship.
and no he shouldnt be a all star starter. he played like 4 games. he is getting in because of dumb fans and his name.

I think he is on his way out but I dont think that he is washed up...and I also do not think that he should have gotten the all star start because of missing 39 games..someone else should have definately gotten the start

not washed up, should be on team but the young guy in O should be starting...remember, it is voted in by fans...and probably most votes with d wade on them have shaq also...we might not have him around much longer and you have to realize what he brought to the game, hes actually very cool and funny to hang around in person and not just the sound bytes you see on espn...

He is definitely on the down hill side of his career. I do not think he deserves to be on the All Star squad. Many others are having better years.
