Photosynthesis is the process of turning carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. Respiration, is the reverse, using oxygen and glucose to break them down in carbon dixoide and water. See the plants, they make their food using solar energy. Everything else is a consumer, with various enzymes to break down the food into simple constitutents.

In other words, photosynthesis and respiration are the opposite processes in a cycle of life.

6CO2 + 6H2O--->C6H12O6 + 6O2 photosynthesis

C6H12O6=glucose

You will note that they are opposite each other
