Sorry---I don't know if this is correct, but I always just assumed it was the "manufacturer's warranty" (as opposed to the store's). Meaning: if you have problems with it, and the store won't refund you or satisfy you, the manufacturer will. Now, thanks to the internet, it is easier to find out where to find manufacturer's info.

I would be glad to be corrected, but I always see "mfr" warranty---which may be same as "mfg" (which is the abbrev. for "manufacturing")

mfg = manufacturer

It is the coverage offered by the company which created an item - as opposed to the store which sells it.

Often, if there is a problem and it is beyond the 30 days when you bought it from the store (depending upon store policy) you need to get in touch with the manufacturer for issues.

Hope that explains it.

It is a manufacturers warranty.
The specific product will come with documentation stipulating the liabilities to the manufacturer and under what conditions and time periods it will be honored.
This differs from an extended warranty in that it is usually offered and sold by a third party with no connection to the manufacturer or retailer.
