OK....the only one of the 13 colonies that doe NOT border the Atlantic Ocean is Pennsylvania. You then have to know all of the states that touch the Atlantic Coast. All of then except for Maine (which was actually part of Massachusetts originally) and Florida are the other 12 original colonies.
The New England colonies are going to be the ones that you think of when you think of the strict relion in the colonies: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
The Middle Atlantic Colonies are the ones that were called the "Bread Basket" because that's where you saw the bulk of the colonies crop farming being done at the time: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware.
The Southern Colonies are the ones where you would find any plantation tobacco farming, and some to a lot of slave labor: Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia.

Word Association. Its the dumbest fricking thing but it works like a charm.
Invent any stupid azz phrase -- they normally would be embarrassing to repeat -- to help you remember.
You invent a phrase and then write the key words you need to remember over and over and over.
Eventually you have one list of key words with no cheat sheet in front of you and you use the stupid phrases you invented to help you remember.
Test yourself over and over like that and you will get an A if you really try.
Test yourself before school and in between classes. Have your cheat sheet ready. Read it on the bus. Any chance you get.
But when the test comes; don't cheat. You won't have to.
Good luck. Also look at maps, print them out and write right on them. Over and over again.
There are only 13 of them. How hard can it be?

do your reasearch and write them down on a piece of paper. then make a song or just plain memorize them .It's not that hard as you are making it out to be. :)
