I tried using one through microsoft... it seemed to be the correct software but instead of using my E drive it created an F drive. The problem is, is my f driver in an external USB harddrive & that's all it is. Please I need some real help with this. I have also downloaded DVD shrink but since both my D & E drives are CD & CD-RW only it doesn't recognized the disc in the driver. Help??

Do I need to just go purchase the software or is it downloadable?

Oh, also tried Ashampoo Burning Studio 6. I'm running out of options.

Thanks

A CD-RW drive can not be turned into a DVD-RW drive with software, you will need to buy a DVD burner for that. Try here

No software can turn your CD-RW drive into a DVD-RW drive. For you to be able to burn DVDs, you must first have the correct hardware.

From your question, I would guess that you don't know much about computer hardware - there wouldn't be much point in you buying a DVD burner if you don't know how to install it. The best thing I can suggest is, that you take your PC to a store that can install a burner for you.

I have no idea who gave you the idea that with software you can make a cd/rw drive into a dvd/rw drive...it's impossible...As stated before this has to do with Hardware, not software drivers.
You will have to purchase a DVD/RW drive to burn DVDs.

A CD and a DVD are read by different lasers. The actual hardware is different so the only option for you is to upgrade to a DVD burner.

Nope. It's a hardware thing. That's like trying to view high-def on a sd-tv. You need to buy a dvd/cd player.
