I work for a startup of 15 people. 4 of us travel almost 100%. 1 of us travels 25%. 3/4 the people who travel 100% have corporate cards. I travel 100% and DO NOT have one. The person that travels 25% also has no corporate card.

My employer is very slow in reimbursing me for company expenses (food, hotel, flight, car etc). The debt usually accumilates to 3000-4000 $ before I get reimbursed. I dont like the idea of using my personal card for company expenses as on a long term its not right (I've been doing it for > 1 year now). I am expected to travel thru 2007 at a minimum.

My boss (& founder) says its "too much work" for him to get me a new card is is not even willing to give me a cash advance. I am very frustrated due to this. I think its unfair I travel 100%, am a regular employee and dont have a card while another employee does have it.

The guy does not even return my phone calls when I call to enquire about my reimbursement.

Other than quit, how else can I handle this?

I have taken the moral high ground of declaring that I refuse to use my personal cards in the future - PERIOD. I have askef for a corporate card or cash advance or billing all my travel expenses to the Project Managers card who is an employee and has a corp card

Ouch - sounds like a sticky situation.

Honestly, startups are weird environments. Frankly, they are probably slow the reimburse you because of poor cash flow management.

Tell your boss you can't continue to charge the travel. Make the arrangments w/o paying for them and submit the bill.

Even if the company pays you the initial travel cost - if you are stuck covering a month of interest on $3000 - that can be quite a bit over the course of the year.

Wish I had a better answer for you!
Best of luck.

Your boss is being very unreasonable. If he can't get you a company card, at least he should reimburse you on a timely basis. I use my credit card for some company expenses but I get reimbursed as soon as I submit an expense report.

I'm sorry to hear you work for such a hard-headed person. It doesn't sound like you have many options because i get the impression your boss is a "take it or leave it" type of person.

unless you are concerned whether or not the company is doing well enough to keep up with paying such large amounts I wouldnt worry about it. If you are going to make a big purchase say home or car I would have the boss write out a statement of the nature of the card use so there is no isue of debt income ratio. on a possitive note your credit will just get better and better because the amount of payoff is so great consistantly and that will help you personally. I think its hogwash his too much work excuse though I do agree with you.

think ofyou've got to inform someone (Human resources will be maximum ideal) that you are able to not attempt this. tell them that you do not have that severe a reduce on your mastercard. Ask in the adventure that they could e book your cost ticket on a corportate mastercard. Have each and each and every of the flight documents with you once you bypass in. also, because you're meant to fly to a unique city, what is going to you be doing about transportation and motels? you want to have that booked on a company card, also. solid success.
