remember the sound of a truck hood slamming, the kind on springs that you had to open with both hands and possibly another person because they were so heavy. lava lamps that were made from metal and didnt look cheap. those of you who grew up from the 20's to the 70's know what i'm talking about. what do you miss? or anything else, like vinyl albums, 8 track tapes, just anything that isnt around now. or is made cheaply now and sold for an outrageous price.

Those big coffee tins...they were great to keep stuff in.
Clothes made out of natural fibres (polyester knits are my top hate and source of mockery! Yes, it doesn't wrinkle as much--but you can drown in your own sweat, or freeze if it's cold out.)
Not being forced to listen to the beep-beep-boom-boom of someone else's "personal stereo" because they have it on so loud you can hear it from 6 feet away, in spite of them wearing headphones!!

Durability - the stuff would last a lot longer. I have "foot pedals" (special effects units) for guitar that have plastic shafts in the switching mechanisms. Its like stepping on a straw with 200 pounds of force and expecting it not to break. The better stuff still uses metal, but a lot of stuff could be improved by using metal instead of plastic. There is an exception to this: some plastics are tougher at lower temperatures, so mountain climbers have their clips on their climbing gear made out of super-tough plastic instead.
