The 1992 Dream Team demolished every team they played in Barcelona. Would today's Argentine, Serbian, Croatian, Spanish or Greek fare any better or would they be in awe of playing with the 'greatest team ever assembled'?

1992, 1982, 2002, 2012. The original Dream Team would still demolish everybody.

They were a bunch of Hall of Famers that played as a team, no individual ego stood out, they acted and played as a team with one single goal of winning.

Today's basketball athletes from around the world are more talented and have a deeper talent pool to draw on now then in 1992. They learned their lessons from those games and improved on their training and also came in greater numbers to the NBA to learn how to play at the NBA level, so they do not really feel awe towards today's players as they did then, when Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and the others were for the most part legends they could only read or possibly see in the occasional televised game.

So I think it's a case where today's international teams are more aware of their abilities and the abilities of the NBA players and would be a far tougher match for the 1992 Dream Team.

On the other hand, I do think that the 1992 Dream Team had some of the last team-first players who did what it took to win, rather than today's "all about me" players. I don't think there is any doubt that the 1992 Dream Team could put the hurting on any dream team the USA has fielded since.

very good question.

Truthfully, I can't remember whether or not those guys played well as a team, or if they just coasted through the Olympics on individual skill. Maybe there's no way to tell either, because the competition didn't require it.

I think they'd really have to play well together to win against today's international competition.

I think that any NBA team that doesn't prominently feature international talent - Heat, Pistons, Lakers, Timberwolves, many others... (even the Knicks) - would still be able to take home the gold, because they play together nightly and are familiar with each other.

I think they would blow everyone out, They had almost an enitre team of hall of famers, most in their prime. They knew how to play team basketball too. Now, Team USA has good players but half of their team aren't even All Stars and they just don't know how to play together. The only way a team would get close to the Dream Team would be if they got bored.

They would definetly be challenged. The other countries have definetly improved as basketball has become more popular world wide.Just look at the NBA ,there are so many international players, and the past few years has shown us that our olympic teams aren't any better then the top Euro teams.Even if you have Kobe,Lebron,D-Wade,D-Howard,C-Paul etc,it's gonna be a dog fight to win a gold metal.... would the 92' Dream Team be challenged?..absalutley...would they lose?..wouldn't surprise me..

The 92 team would still demolish every team. Those players played with their heads not just with their talent. Anyone who says otherwise either was not old enough to witness them play or is clouded by jealousy of the States.

No team in the universe can beat MJ, Magic, Bird, Barkley and the Dream Team. They worked so well together. No team ever was better than that team.

Nope, the dream team was the BEST team in the world. No way could anyone beat them. They beat every team at their time by like 50 points.

the international teams would fare better but I think still overmatched because of the unusually good team chemistry that the dream team had for a group that hadnt played together for years and years like the intl teams do...
