So far I have a degree in communication studies, and I'm now wondering if that is a recognized degree in this field. I’d like to consider the idea of being able to use that, to get into a master program in this study.

Just looking for the education requirements, and if I can use my communications degree as the bachelor degree component. If anyone knows the salary figure for this career that would be helpful too.

Thanks

Communication Disorders/Speech and Hearing Sciences Bachelor's degrees are usually the undergraduate degree for Speech/Language Pathology.

If your Bachelor's is in Communications, such as mass media, then you would need to take several undergraduate courses that are prerequisite to entering a Master's Degree program in Speech/Language Pathology. It is not uncommon for many people to enter the field without having the undergrad. degree.

The main agency for certifying Speech Pathologists and Accrediting educational programs is the American Speech/Language Hearing Association (ASHA):

Salaries vary by geographic region and by type of job (e.g. school based vs. hospital vs. private practice, etc.). Here is more information from the U.S. Dept. of Labor:

Good Luck to you!
