There is no such thing as ISP/Operating System compatibility. People are asking the most naive questions about Vista. Cheap packages are Tiscali, Wanadoo and the like. They are all around the £15 a month mark. Alternatively if you are in the same house go wireless or use Internet Connection Sharing with a network card (£15) and a network crossover cable.

The problem would not be the isp compatibility but the compatibility of the hardware they provide.

If they supply a usb modem there will probably be problems with the drivers for it, if they supply a router that uses wireless or ethernet connection then there should be no problem as these handle the connection to the isp instead of the PC.

I don't know about tesco but in general you get what you pay for. Cheaper deals tend to come with usage limits or fair use policies that restrict what you can do.

depends on how cheap just remember you only get what you pay for, so dont necessarily go for the cheapest, a decent broadband is between £14.99 and £16.99 from tiscali or btbroadband from £9.99 for first six months then £17.99 there are a lot of others there but will have to shop around, you can use any internet provider to connect to the internet whether using vista or xp

It shouldn't matter. When they say compatibility, your PC really only needs to be built within the last 20 years and have complied with the TCP/IP standard and have an Ethernet port. You don't have to install any software whatsoever unless it is Dial-up. It's just propaganda, with these DSL/Cable Internet Connectors that you can install on your PC. They only slow it down.

good and cheap are mutally exculsive.

tiscali do a reasonable 2mb connection at £14.99 a month that is if you dont mind utterly incomprehsible call centers in deli.

otherwise you could move to cable and conbine your internet and phone package and stop having to pay bt line rental.
