i just read the book (very good_ but i have a question does the main character/ narrator die? in the last paragraph or is that some one else?
if so who?
also what was the MC/Narratoars name

Yes, he dies. I forget his name. He is shot on November 11, 1918, just as the armistice is about to come into effect. As the book puts it, it was a day so uneventful that the only report the Germans at the front could make back to headquarters was, "All quiet on the Western front." ("Im Westen, nichts neues.")
