I just call each one by its name.
To me, Coke is a brand name, Cola risks being brought Pepsi which I hate, dope is smoked, drink suggests alcoholic, fiz/fizzy.....well, I knw the word used with hair is fRizzy, not fizzy, but that's still what it makes me think of, mineral is something in dirt, Pop is my grandad, soda is for people who don't care what one they get (and I do!) ditto soda pop (which also makes me think of my grandad) and soft drink, squash is a vegatable, and tonic is what people used to take for illness.
It's Coke (only if that's the one I want), Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, etc.
And if I've bought the generic brands this week and I'm referring to those, I'll call them 'fakes' of whatever name brand they're mimicking: "Hey, bring me a fake coke if you're going to the kitchen, would you?"

Depends on what part of the country of USA you are from or what part of an outsdie county you are from. I've lived in several different states and the answer could be any of these. soft drink, soda, pop, fizz, soda pop, mineral water is water, cola could for any, or the original brand name is best to go by,then there is no confusion. I love Coca Cola!!!!! Original please!!!
