Without a doubt Barcelona. There is something there for everyone and I mean everyone. Went there a couple of years ago with my family and no one was left out of their interests. I like art, theatre and history (all there), my hubby likes pubs and football (plenty of football stuff and all different pubs), my son likes the beach and underwater stuff (there are beaches, marina and aquarium) and daughter shopping (boutiques, markets and posh designer shops) We all like good food and there are many restaurants to choose from.
Marseilles is French poo! How can it compete? Ma non.

Barcelona has much more to offer, both from a touristic and cultural point of view. It is a beautiful town. Nice food. Cheap booze. Lovely shops and markets. Lots to do and see.
Good football team too, and fantastic sports facilities.
