If you can't uninstall it with add/remove, you can probably remove it with a spyware killer, such as ad-aware. A lot of 'helpful' hotbars/toolbars are spyware, and as such you should always search the web for info about it, and as a rule of thumb; if you don't know you absolutely NEED it, then you really don't want it.

It usually helps to know which one you downloaded, what platform you are on, what browser, etc
Taking a guess - on Windows, go to Start - Control Panel - Add / Remove Programs and see if it is listed there. Make sure to have whatever browser you are going to be uninstalling it from shut down

(1) Get you self a good antivirus or a free one if your present anti virus is not protecting you .
(2) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

Run an antispyware program, that should remove it. Next time, don't download those, most are scams.
I use AdAware and SpybotS&D, between the two of them they get most of the spyware.
