I see nothing wrong with a father of a grown up son.......To state I love you son. Or vice versa for that matter. That father and son will have a closer adult relationship than those that dont. There is nothing better than that. It is absolutely healthy too. Too many father and sons dont and than when dad dies the son suffers, because neither expressed their love for each other.

If you really think its impossible for a father to express paternal love for his son, then I am very sorry for the childhood and life you must have experienced.

WOOO!! Why not??? He has showed you love all your life and now suddenly your too old??? What is that saying? My husband and son always say I love you to each other when leaving or on the phone. It's kind of expected.
I also have to say that I know that their are fathers and son's who are not close at all. My husband and his late father were not close and never hugged, said I love you or anything. It was sad.
