My broiler pan is super greasy with baked on grease and cheese. I never know how to clean it easily-- it doesn't fit well in the sink and when I use a sponge on it the sponge gets stuck in the holes in the pan. Is there a homemade solution I can spray on it that will help clean it easily?

I used to clean houses and I would take the oven racks and broiler pans and put them in a heavy duty garbage bag (either outside or in bathtub). Pour in 1 cup ammonia and 1 cup hot water and seal up the bag really well. Let sit overnight and then just spray off. Then you can wash in regular diswashing soap to wash off the ammonia. Always worked for me.
Hope this helps..

Tops, Broiler Pans Ease these messy jobs with a solution of 1/2 cup Super Washing Soda dissolved in a gallon of warm water. For stubborn, crusted soils, sprinkle Super Washing Soda dry on a damp sponge to scour quickly and easily. Remove burners and soak in solution for at least 30 minutes to banish greasy build-up. Rinse well and dry.

You need a self-cleaning oven to do this... Place broiler pan upside down in the oven and turn on the self clean function. This works well for dirty BBQ grills too. Remember these two things - Plastic or Bakelite knobs will melt or disintegrate in this process so remove them or don't put them in and do not overload the oven - one or two items at a time, max. Bonus is you get your oven cleaned too! It doesn't get any easier than this. Time approximately one hour.

baking soda with vinegar is my solution too..
in the future, line your broiler pan with aluminum foil, makes clean up much easier. you can poke holes in it where the holes are in the pan for drainage if you like.
i have also heard oven cleaner works well, i use the natural stuff if at all possible..

Use that spray-on oven cleaner--the really toxic stuff. I do this with parts of my outdoor grill. Take the pan outside and spray it liberally with the oven cleaner. Let it sit for awhile. Then rinse off with the garden hose. It really works!
