These peopel also have a lot of money. COuld they 'buy ' custody of my son? He is in North Carolina with me for now almost six months. I am also pregnant with our second child. I work full-time, provide health insurance, shelter, food, clothing, take him to the doctor, etc. My husbanc's parents have never seen the child, and this is where my husband is now living(i assume) I have tweo attorney's, one in Ohio and one in North Carlian, but would like some opinions.

With TWO attorneys, you should be safe. I live in North Carolina, and judges here are very fair. They consider what is best for the children, and base their judgement on that. It's very rare for a Father to get custody unless the Mother is unfit....in which case, he SHOULD get custody. I'm sure that's NOT your case, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Good Luck!!

They couldn't really "buy" custody of your son, they could get a really good laywer for him. Unless there is some major thing going on that you aren't sharing, I don't think you would lose custody of your children..The only thing I can say is talk with your lawyers and don't give your ex any ammuniton against you, be civil and nice. And listen to you lawyers. Sorry that you are having to go through this

Sounds like you know what you're doing. In Indiana, mothers almost ALWAYS get the child, UNLESS they are deemed to be an unfit mother (which is a hard case to prove). Keep your head up, and keep doing your thing and I think things will be okay.
Good luck.

Uh, how ugly. Sorry you're going through this. The courts favor the mom and unless he can PROVE you are truly UNFIT, you don't have a thing to worry about. (You sound like a wonderful provider and a loving mom) Trust your lawyers and God and you'll be fine and you'll be keeping your babies.

I doubt that one could "buy" custody. Just be sure to have a good lawyer and have proof that you have been the sole parent and provider for your children. I wish you luck!

It depends. Usually the court slides with the mother. Unless he has some bad things on you to tell them.
If you do not do any bad things (drug, alcohol), it'll be hard for him. Is he married? If he is not married, it will be even harder. Plus the court looks if the child lives with his siblings/meet his siblings, so your pregnancy is a plus.

yes, but if the children are too young it would have to be because you are an unfit mother...they would have to prove that in court.
..just do the best you can and the law will see you are making do the best you can..this should all be in your favor
it seems you are doing the right thing..good luck

sounds like you've got all your bases covered, but you might want to try to find a local attorney who knows the in's and outs of the local politics where your husband's family lives just to be safe. There still exists the 'good old boy' network, fight dirty if you have to, it's for your children's sake.
