What are some similarites and diffrences between Dimmesdale and Hester in The Scarlet Letter?

As for differences; Hester's secret is made public, while Dimmesdale's isn't. Because of Hester's experience, she becomes stronger, while Dimmesdale falls apart and becomes weaker due to her lack of experience. Thus...they are both punished in different ways. Hester is affected more extternally thar Dimmesdale. Then Dimmesdale dies because he did not have to expose his sin in public. Hester on the other hand, got over it because she had to expose her sin in public.

Differences:because hester had to address her sin to the public, she is eventually able to get over it and not suffer a lot. Dimmesdale decides to cover up hhis sin, leading to a lot of guilt and suffering which leads to his death.
