I use to bite my nails until they bled and hurt so bad. What I did to stop this nasty habit was evertime I thought about biting them, I put them under my legs and sat on them. It worked and I have never bit my nails again.
Good Luck.

Try getting some acrylics put on at the salon...they are much thicker than your natural nail, and maybe they won't be as satisfying to chew on. Plus, they are kind of an investment and if you don't bite them, they stay pretty longer.
This might help you break a habit, but getting fakes put on wrecks the natural nail, and you'll have to wait for all the damaged nail to grow out before they will be pretty again.

Before you start to bite your nails again I am suggesting that you should practising sometimes for many times to bite and eat carrots. I mean everytime there is a leisure time on somewhere calm.... Bring some carrots with you and start to bite them while enjoying the moment.

The only thing that worked for me was getting braces. When they started my orthodontic treatment, my teeth shifted and I lost my usual spot I used to use to bite my nails. Then of course with the brackets on I couldn't get my fingers close enough to my teeth because my nails were so short. By the time my nails grew long enough to hit my teeth, the spot was gone and the habit itself was gone, too.

I would say when you're out in public, fold your arms or keep your hands in a position where you can't bite your nails. if you are at home, try putting bandaids on all of your fingers. if you don't want to do that, dip your fingers in nail polish remover. that way, you will really not want to bite your nails!

i became as quickly as a continual nail biter, i attempted each thing, I loved the style of the pepper polish that I as quickly as tried, warm pepper on your fingertips will keep your mouth away, yet pay attention of the eyes... the only factor that has stopped me from biting, for 6 years now could be having my nails accomplished, acrylic isn't uncomplicated to chew, nor does it style good, so I now no longer chew my fingernails... a greater value-effective way, i like it while my organic nails are manicured besides, all ridge loose and soft, as a substitute of biting them, i could rub the nail on my lip, no longer desirous to break the smoothness. good success to you.

Had a friend who couldn't stop either. One of my pet peeves.
Everytime I saw them in her mouth, I would flick her forehead.
Eventually worked. Goes back to Pavlov and conditioning.
It really works.
