And because of that, I'm really, really disturbed by it! Most of the time in the evening, when I just want to watch TV and relax or something, I can hear them making racial comments, which I get very upset from. Not only because my father is Indonesian, but I also feel bad for other foreign people. I noticed this just two weeks ago!

Should I move to another place, or call the cops?

Why should you be worried about your neighbour being racist? Are they being openly racist? You say you hear then from their own home. If someone chooses to do that without offending someone, why worry about them. Unless they were purposely doing it to offend you I wouldn't bother, People love to use the race thing, what if they were talking about hating tramps or anyone else would you call the police. People are allowed to hate whomever they please, as long as they do not confront you with it. You have to start believing that whatever anyone thinks or says about you, you have no control over that, its just their opinion about you. My advice, turn up your telly! This is from someone who faces it daily!

Think the best option is moving away.

If they haven't shouted racial abuse or arm you physically, I'm afraid calling the police would be a waste of time.

It's so sad to know that there are so many narrow minded people living in Britain, i pitty them because it's caused by pure ignorance.

You can't call the cops on them being racist, unless they start to threaten you or do something of a violent nature. Moving is an option, but racism is often linked with ignorance. I think if your family would be able to prove that the comments that they're making are out of proportion toward your race, they'd gain a bit of intelligence. :P

Unfortunately you can't do anything as they arn't doing anything illegal by saying things in their own home. They are obviously doing it to wind you up and upset you, which they have succeeded. Try not to take it personally as they are just ignorant people who should be pitied because they have nothing better to do and havn't obviously got a life. If it does upset you that much and you wanted to move anyway, then I would say do so. If you really don't want to move then don't let them win. Good luck x

Calling the police will just make it worse .Calling him a red neck (which that's what he sounds like ) will make him want to fight .(that's what they do) So moving is the only option since you really can't reason with an ignorant person .
If you are renting ,talk to the landlord about it .Do you have a lease or do you own ?
Sorry for your problems ,I hope it works out for you and your family .

Totally ignore it, they will get fed up when you don't respond. Or you could have a word with one of them when you see them going out on their own, tell them what you heard and how it made you feel. Do this in a non threatening way...be matter of fact about it. If it continues or worsens, ask police for their advice.

Some people are totally ignorant!

Best wishes.

Well you can't really call the cops on people who haven't really done anything yet. They are just bigots. There's nothing you can really do. Maybe you could start a petition to have them removed from the neighborhood.

They are allowed to say whatever they wish short of threatening you with violence or yelling 'fire' in a crowded theatre. We may not always like it, but that freedom of expression protects us as well. In other words, calling the cops would do you no good unless you are being directly threatened.

Let it be their problem. I reckon they're saying them aloud for your benefit, so don't give them the satisfaction and let them know it bothers you.
Instead, say 'hello, nice day isn't it?' when you see them and go on about your merry way. That will probably get to them more than anything else.
Unfortuntately, ignorant people like that will rarely change their attitudes, but you can only control yourself.
