Ummm no you should never hit anyone! Don't scold her in front of people either no matter how rude she may have been you don't need to sink to her level! Also, who doesn't say a racist comment every now and then? Every race cacausion, african american, asian, hispanic, they all say comments about eachother. That's what this world has come down to. Get used to it because unfortunately you can't escape it.

No, hitting is never the appropriate response. But it's okay to let her know that what she did is unacceptable and wrong.
You can chastise her in front of the "others" and I'm sure she'll remember to think before she speaks next time.

NO, and a slap wouldn't change her viewpoint. You could change the subject at the moment. Later when you are alone you could talk about it with her. You should treat your wife or girlfriend with respect.
