Do any of you gamers own both consoles at the same time, and if so what are the pros and cons of each console, and which one should I get?

Jeepgirl,
What games do you have for your Wii, and what do you recommend for some interactive fun, aside from racing games and first person games for the Wii.

Comparing apples and oranges.

The Wii is a concept console and was never meant to be any competition for the 'next gen' consoles.

The graphics and engine are far sub-par when compared to the PS3.

But, again.. the entertainment delivery is from a different angle. The Wii has a new concept that's hard to get used to and nearly impossible to master (not for everyone). Whereas the PS3 still has some production issues and isn't going mainstream as easily as it should have.

So really.. the answer is within you, my young padawan :)

Do you want a new type console with OK graphics and a new experience, or hard-hitting graphics and a blue-ray player?

Your choice.

One thing I can tell you is that the Wii looks really grainy on my 60inch plasma (bigger TV = easier to play for Wii games).. but the PS3 and Xbox360 look pretty smooth.

I only have the Wii....but

The Wii is awesome for playing multiplayer games. It is entertaining and intuitive, so any one can pick it up and play and have a good time. There are unusual games like Rayman Raving Rabbids and WarioWare: Smooth Mooves, which are both excellent party games. The Wii is also a great workout....if you get into Wii Sports, you can end up sweating and tired...but having a load of fun!

As well as games, the Wii has free Internet, you can download old N64, SNES, and a couple other classic console's games. You have an internet browser. You can also check the forecast, check the headlines...both all over the world. There is a Mii channel. And a photo channel where you can express creativity. You also have an inbox where you can leave messages for people, or recieve message. It makes a great bulletin board. It also can play all the Gamecube games.

The only thing lacking in the Wii is graphics. However, it is only $250, a fraction of the price of the PS3 or 360.

The PS3 would be better for shooting games and racing games (although I personally prefer the 360 for anything). It has absolutely amazing graphics. From what i have heard, it has similar download capabilities for games.

I have heard that a lot of consoles either didn't work, worked and died, or kept freezing (this was from a Gamestop store manager). This problem hopefully is fixed.

The PS3's downsides are the price, however if you think about the fact you are getting a Blu Ray player...it is pretty cheap. However, Blu Ray is not yet the agreed upon standard, so it may be a waste of money.

There are also not a large selection of games, however, I am sure they will improve as time goes on.

I would personally suggest the 360 over the PS3. It has been out there in the market for a while so the bugs are worked out of it. It has a large, good library of games. The controller is much nicer to hold, and gives a better feel for games with the triggers. The Xbox Live service is very popular. And it is just that bit cheaper.

Out of the two you said, I would get the Wii! It is a lot of fun, and it is different than a traditional console!

PS3, the only reason people are saying it sucks is because they already have an xbox360 or a wii and they think it is the greatest thing in the world. My friend has all 3 and he plays with the ps3 the least but not because he doesnt like it,he says the wii is fun but it is only fun for 20 minutes and then you feel like an idiot flailing around your living room knocking stuff over, he loves zelda but he can only stand it for 20 mins. the xbox360 he says he loved up until he got his ps3, which is essentially the same thing except upgraded. It has been shown that microsoft has no hardware dedication as opposed the sony, the playstation 2 still has games coming out for it while xbox has stopped production of games and console all together, the gamecube was a bust and nintendo is only still alive thanks to the ds. The wii is innovative but it gets tiring and boring after a few minutes. The PS3 on the other hand has the motion sensing of the wii and the graphics of the xbox360 and game selection that none of them have, final fantasy series, grand turismo, metal gear solid to name a few. Many people say that developers and backing out on sony, this is false, the games under development but they need to have time to develop them. it is a cheap blu ray player, blu ray players usually range from 800-$1000, essentially you are getting a computer run on linux, a next generation cell processor, 60 gb harddrive, usb ports, rsx graphics card from nvidia and a large selection of games for roughly $600. I know the price tag has thrown many people off but it is worth it.

The PS3 is bombing hard. Especially in Japan. It's rotting on shelves. Just wait for the price drop. It has no good games yet either.
It's really a joke. Developers are already dropping support and shifting to the Wii and 360. Do yourself a favor and pick up a real console.
Either the Wii or the 360 would be a better buy. Better yet, buy both for nearly the same price as the overpriced monstrosity, kiddie-console called the PS3.

If your under the age of 11 then go with the Wii, you will have fun. The PS3 is a great system the best one out their, but if you want real power then build your own gaming pc.
