Did you ever get the slipper,cane or ruler at school?

I did and when the head found out I had nicked them he boarded me into classroom 5H for two weeks with only bread and water

Yes i did across the hand, across the behind. Then you had the choice of the long whippy bamboo or the which stung like hell or the short sturdy piece of bamboo, that one caused a different kind of pain but none the less still very painful. Then there was the ruler one of the tutors actually broke my thumb with that particular instrument or torture. then there was the slipper our gym teacher would mark our shorts with a piece of chalk and beat us till the chalk mark had disappeared. Last but not least there was the black board erasure if one of us spoke out of turn. Our tutor would throw the erasure at the guilty party often blacking their eye

i got the ruler and very badly too several times across the nuckles in front of whole class. My crime I made one mistake in spelling i was eight years of age! It would never be allowed today and my poor brother ended up in the dragons class after me and he got the desk banged on his back as he was looking inside it (one of those lift up ones) he was badly bruised for weeks. He also got the slipper and cane off the same woman.

did i ever, i was always lining up outside the headmasters office for the cane. the cane was the punishment at my school, I left school 37 years ago. believe it or not i never liked the punishment but looking back it never did me any harm and i was and still am respectful of other people, especially my elders,not like the school kids of today,then again there is no deterrent today,no discipline or punishment is allowed owing to the goody good brigade.(probably the same people who was getting the cane at school etc) like i have stated it did not do anything to hurt or harm me in later life and it did help me to show respect to people, and i did in fact learn a lot at school educational wise.

Ahhhh. i grow to be the made from the nuns in a catholic college. I keep in suggestions it properly. second grade. Whaaapppp!!!! actual throughout the knuckles with the ruler. i grow to be very shy, and not in any respect brought about difficulty, and that i had no theory why they might attempt this, besides the undeniable fact that it harm like holy heck. Then, about a million/2 way through the three hundred and sixty 5 days, that instructor left the school (I swear i did not kill her!) and that i have been given (drum roll please!) .... Sister James. She grow to be mind-blowing, loving, being concerned and impressive. i presumed i grow to be in heaven. thanks, Sister James, for saving me! Edit: i grow to be basically interpreting each and each and every of the replies. look what number were on the fingers of nuns! Is the completed catholic church nuts?

In Scotland about 40/50 years ago it was the 'tawse' a thick leather belt about 18 inches long and split at one end rather like a snakes tongue. After a couple of doses of the 'tawse' on the palms of your hands enthusiasm for serious forms of mischief waned with remarkable speed.
Of course in our enlightened age when any form of punishment is forbidden except an imaginary 'slap on the wrist' it would never be allowed.

Yes, both the cane and the ruler. Didn't do me any harm though, as I knew when it was going to be consequence of my action.

I used to get the slipper untill the headmaster sussed me out for tucking a maths book down my **** so he gave me the cane across the palm of my hand. Aw, the pain......./

A few of got our own back though,,, we set his car alight.

At our school we had evil teachers, one would lift the lid of your desk up, you had to put your fingers on the jarm then he dropped the lid on your fingers, another would hit you with a pump really hard on your back, but the worst was a thick leather strap bashed really hard across your knuckles then having to stand in front of the whole class saying 'I am an imbecile', thank god those days are gone.
