It is something that cannot be fixed by anything anyone can say on here. When you were beaten as a child, it wasnt just a one off thing....it would have happened over a long period of time which made you into the person you are today. A lot of psychological damage was done in your childhood years and if you think logically about it, your abuse happened over a long period of time, so it is going to take a bit of time to deal with your abuse. You cannot get over abuse in a couple of days. There is a lot involved in learning a new way. When you are abused you are not usually left with much self esteem. You need a professional to walk with you. You need someone qualified in helping survivors of abuse. It is going to take time because you have to learn a totally new way of seeing yourself, and you cannot do it on your own. I can tell you what a worthwhile person you are, but if you dont believe it, then its not going to help. I can tell you that you didnt deserve to be hit as a child, but so much psychological damage has been done to you that nothing I can say is going to make you feel any better because you dont feel it. For anything positive to happen you will need some professional help...that is a given. I wish you all the best

Depending on what kind of abuse it was, how violent and the type. Any abuse that you had growing up that IS affecting the adult you are whether its bad dreams, inability to form and maintain relationships(healthy, normal one.) Any negative or not normal behavior you have right at this moment, you must seek professional help no matter what . If you are concerned about it, means there are some problems going on even though you think about the concern to ask people for advice. Believe me, and talk to someone professional about this, so you can be more understanding, about the situation, please just like I am seeing a professional counselor for depression an anxiety. You have the right to be happy person, talk to someone.
