One of the biggest and well known print makers in the UK was William Morris, he had a huge success when his prints were introduced at Liberty's Dept store. (They still work with his Deco prints today) British design has pulled from many areas back to the empire days. Today i think of the 60's modern movement (MOD) this has remained a stable part of design in the UK. Strong graphics black, blue, red and white.

You are asking a big question there. Let's see try, the 20th century review. Lots of stuff there, the other thing is what type of design are you looking at? Graphic, textile, fashion? deign covers a lot of areas.
