Did Minnie Driver turn into a singer instead of an Actress?

I believe she was a singer first, but people started finding out she sang after she became more famous. She sings beautifully.

Actually I seen a TV bio on her and apparently she wanted to be a singer, but went a different route when she was offered the movie role in Circle of Friends (1995), and she got recognized for that. She then stuck with acting, but eventually put out an album in 2004.
