I believe that the wealthy elite have a substantial discomfort with those who do not match their financial abundance except for a small fraction with whom I associate. :) any constructive thoughts would be great.

Oh, we'd have to look at the cause, not the symptom. We’d have to get rid of the classes to cure it. Off the top of my head I say, first, get rid of the corporate legal entity and make the owner(s) of corporations again liable for their own actions. Get rid of inflation; which was invented by the rich to get richer without lifting a finger while at the same time making the poor poorer. Stop allowing the banks to create money out of thin air; lending money they don’t have in exchange for real money plus interest back. Stop allowing governments to create money out of thin air in much the same way plus heading to the printer to print more cash for them. All the governments are doing it, and remember when poor little Mexico said, “hey, if the USA and other countries can do it, so can we” and so they did, but the richer countries forced them to drive the value of their currency. I guess in the end we’d have to make everyone equal, just like the idealistic Star Trek future earth where there is no longer any money (but of course politics remains in their world… they’d have to get rid of that too, the individual politician, that is, and everything would have to be decided by a complete unbiased mass fully informed vote). Will the rich give up their reins so easily; I think not. Will good prevail over evil? Eventually, I think so. There’s a great book I recently read called The One Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka. Leading his lifestyle is the way to living equally, not only with other people, but with nature and the planet. We need to get back to the basics of life. I don’t know about you, but I think my friends and family is most important, but the way things are currently, I rarely see my friends anymore, I don’t have time for my family, all of my childhood classmates and school friends, who knows where they are now… My neighbours; I have no idea who they are now; I used to know everyone in my neighbourhood, every house on the street; now we move like everyone else, every couple years or so. We’re all a bunch of lonely people living amongst strangers. I’d give up this life in an instant to get back to basics and live a village style life. No, I don’t think we need to give up any necessary technologies to do this; not at all. Hospitals, police, technology and such can still exist, only all that unnecessary stuff which we don’t need will become redundant. All of that “I want” stuff will be taken away and all that’s left will be all of the “I need” stuff. Well, those are my off the top of my head ramblings.

I don't think we can bridge the gap between classes- most cultures have a class system of some form (even those in third world societies will have a hierarchal structure of importance) as it is what helps keep order in the world.

Yes, whilst it may be the case that some of a wealthier disposition turn their nose down at lower classes, so too do some lower class citizens turn their nose up to higher society. Also, are we not implying that those who are of a lower social class are any less happy- i resent the comments made on here about them "getting off their asses" and "drinking less alcohol" as they represent a small minority.

In my experience most people are happy with their social status, and and those that desire to change individually- they have a motivational drive, something to aim for. If we are born wealthy, what ambition is there in life?

Sorry, not going to happen.

If Mr. Rich is already ' uncomfortable ' with Mr. Smith, and vice versa, then the problem is in the head.

The only way around that is if they didn't know anything about each other and met on common ground. Good luck making that happen.

Instituting a form of socialism would help redistribute the wealth but considering that our country was built on capitalism a lot of people here might have some issues with that...

It can be done by distributing the wealth equally.
At the same time poor people or labour should also work hard and forego their vices such as consuming liquor etc., and start educating their children.
