Typical pricing for asphalt composition shingles is about $300 per square (100 square feet of roof surface). This does not include removing the old roof or any incidental repairs. You can usually have a total of three complete roof surfaces before the old roof must be removed. If you can just do an overlay (no roof removal) the cost should be $3500 to $4000.

We had a new roof put on our 1300 sq ft ranch home in 2005.
This included completely tearing off the old roof, right down to the plywood, we did not roof over roof.
We were not fixing any damage just replacing a roof that was about 15 years old.
And it cost us $5,500.00 - - and we are in California.
I would think things would be a little cheaper in your neck of the woods, but it doesn't appear so.
Do yourself a huge favor and shop around, get several estimates, and make sure the contractor you do hire has a LICENSE.. Then go on-line and check them out, make sure their license is current and they have no complaints against them.
Good Luck

Depends on the replacement, tear off, where they get their material, what type of company-vs-independent.always have a contract specify every detail of the work.Never pay in advance but in stages of completion.I had a 2500 ft ranch done for $3,600...shop....shop...shop.

It all depends on the extent of the damage and how much material is needed for your roof. But it doesnt shound unreasonable for your size of roof.

It seems high but every contractor has their own price.I would contact other contractors and get more estimates before preceding with this one.

SEEMS CLOSE BUT........... MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS WRITTEN IN FINAL BID, FROM CLEAN UP, DUMPSTER RENTAL, YOU MAY NEED BUILDING PERMIT, ETC. LEAVE NOTHING OUT OF IT. IF THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT HAVING TO WRITE ALL THAT DOWN... TELL THEM TO TAKE A WALK. YOU NEED TO PROTECT YOURSELF. MAKE SURE THEY ARE LIC AND HAVE INSURANCE! GOOD LUCK!
