He didn't start the lie, it started with the one that can do no wrong.
"In the next century, the community of nations may see more and more the very kind of threat Iraq poses now -- a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction ready to use them or provide them to terrorists, drug traffickers or organized criminals who travel the world among us unnoticed.
If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program."
President Clinton
Address to Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon staff
February 17, 1998
And those that deny their wonderful, blameless god (clinton) are conspiracy theorists with no clue to facts and/or truth

Bush doesn't care about the troops. Bush only cares about his rich cronies.
Bush lied about WMDs because his advisors decided that this would be the best way to get the American people to buy into his preemptive attack on Iraq.
The PNAC members, who eventually became Bush advisors/cabinet, had tried to get Clinton to invade but he wouldn't, he preferred to work through the UN with sanctions and diplomacy.
Bush picked Iraq to attack like a lion picks a sickly baby antelope. Iraq was weak from sanctions and past wars and had all those barrels of oil. The war would be a good cover to give his father's Carlyle Group and Cheney's Haliburton and his oil buddies like Exxon, and Chevron large contracts for billions of dollars.

Well, that's assuming the man behind the curtain - that would be Cheney - even bothered to tell the President that he found out the British uranium intel was bogus. He found that out before the 2003 SOTU Address but it was still used to prop up the war anyway in that address. By the time we all find out who knew what when Bush will be long gone and a Democratic President will be cleaning up his mess.

I could say because that is what he does best but it is more complicated than that. To really understand I suggest you read the following books.
"You're Not Stupid! Get The Truth" by William John Cox
"The 9/11 Commission Omissions and Distortions" by David Ray Griffin
You will see that the lies about WMD are just the tip of the iceberg.

George Bush and his mendacity administration cooked the books as they say on the educational that they provided. Iraq had no longer something to do with 9/11 and by no potential did. The PNAC it fairly is the project for the hot American Century have been those that pushed to circulate into Iraq. Their contributors contain Dickless Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Scooter Libby, Donald Rumsfeld, Jebb Bush, Dan Quail and greater. The PNAC doctrine believes that u.s. would desire to establish defense force bases international so they are able to play worldwide Policeman as they see in effective condition. you would be able to thank those bunch of cowards for eroding u.s. acceptance international and thanks to them the have faith is long previous for believing u.s.. To undesirable the finished works of them could no longer be charged with treason for their strikes surprisingly the unlawful warfare in Iraq.

Take a deep breath and listen without drooling all over yourself. There was no lie. we have found some, tons of yellow cake uranium, mustard gas, and empty rockets that could be loaded with WMD's. It is also a fact that Saddam used such things against the Iraqi people. There is also proof that Syria is home to some of them right now.

Simply put Bush is the WMD, and those that continue to support him are co-conspirators.
