Would you say that gay marriage isn't being accepted by christians or any other people due to the fact that Mary and Joseph were the first couple to get married? What I'm saying is that God made Mary pregnant and Joseph married Mary and had a son named Jesus. What about churches? Normally you'd see either statues or pictures of Joseph and Mary as well as their son Jesus. Would you say that these three people are the symbolism of marriage and as to why nobody doesn't accept gays or lesbians getting married? If not, then why can't others accept gays and lesbians and their marriage like they accept regular straight marriage? Also, no crude or stupid answers please.

Probably some people fear gay marriage because they think there might come a miracle birth that makes Mary's look weak.

Just one thing. Would you please check out the other people in the Bible. There were mothers, fathers, children, long long before Mary and Joseph were alive. Statues are part of the Catholic churches. Many churches have no statues. I would not say that those statues are a symbol of marriage. They are just picturing the holy family, as Catholics call them and a sculptor made them. Marriage was originally a word to describe love between a man and woman, who were sent to procreate the world. It is seen as a disgrace to dignify a man to man relationship as a marriage because they cannot ever create a child between them, same for lesbians. Merely adopting a child does not mean it is a tru marriage. It is like a path going way, way around what is going on! They may have their relationship, why would the public try to change all that, to no avail? But why call it marriage??

Marriage is by no potential a Christian theory yet Christianity positioned it as a Sacred Sacrament of their doctrine. Marriage is a social association that protects a relationship contract between 2 events that decides to be at the same time in forming a kinfolk. Joseph and Mary have been married under the Jewish regulation and their faith replace into Judaism which for them isn't a faith yet a fashion of their classic lives.

Mary and Joseph were not the first people to get married-it was Adam and Eve. Look in the book of genesis. As for being gay-they weren't. Mary was approached by the angel Gabriel and he told her she was to have Jesus. When Joseph found out, he was going to "divorse her quietly" until God told him to take Mary as his wife. He did. But the guys and lesbians have been throughout the Bible and God does detest it, but some people can't help being the way they are.
As for some churches, some accept the gays and perform marriages and others are against it.
People can accept it, but are uncomfortable with it. I actually had lesbian coworkers but they found other jobs after they got married.

Excuse me...but. WE have a very young girl (Mary) who is preggers and NOT married! Joe was an old man who was kind enough to marry her...no one else would in that society, that is for sure! In fact, a unmarried pregnant woman was suitable to be stoned in that period! I don't think this union is a good example for Christians to hang onto as a symbol of married life. Why is it that so many Christians think society started when Jesus was born? Society had been plugging along for many 1000's of years before this event, hince the "BC" or "AD" with a date. The above is not a crude or stupid answer...it is very real. Think before you ask.

It sounds harsh but marriage was created a LONG LONG time ago by the church in order to get more babies/people to follow the religion. They found the easiest way to convert people to their religion is to have them be born into the religion. So marriage was created to grow the church the fastest (look at Mormonism with their 10+ kids). Marriage was also created to protect women because in the past women would get raped by "savage" men so marriage pretty much "tamed" men.

I think the reason people don't accept gay marriages is because of religion stating marriage is between a man and a women. Another reason is because people in general do NOT like change at all... they get too comfortable in their ways.

I'm pretty sure there were unions between men and women before Jesus entered the scene. I don't know why you think Joe and Mary were the first.

Actually, Adam and Eve were the first to get married... they just didn't have a ceremony. Ceremonies were created by the Church to solve the confusion.

some people feel they have to push their belives on others. jesus did not care so why can't we just stop hating each other because of race, gender or whatever.
