"Hypothetical" situation - A highschool sophomore really likes this senior, they're not dating or anything but she wants to get him something that would show that she likes him - without being too obvious.

One more thing - They're both really shy.

What would you do?

My opinion completely depends on what their current relationship is like. If they're friends there are so many ideas, but if they don't even really know eachother, it's a whole new, more complicated scenario.

It makes it even harder, because they're both shy.

The best way to get someones attention is to be confident. You want them to know how you feel, so tell them. Be bold.

But if they're shy.. that's not going to happen.

If your school does one of those valentine's delivery services where you pay to have them deliver candy or a flower or something to the person of your choice on valentines day that's a great way to let them know you're interested.

If worse came to worse you could always pass it off as a friendly thing.

If you don't have a school thing like that, valentine's always work as well. Just hand him a cute "Will you be my valentine?" in the hallway, or stick a "Be Mine" in his locker.

Always cute, and shows that you were thinking of him.

You could do the traditional thing and try and get a card to him, and be brave enough to sign it. But be sure that he won't show it to all his mates, especially if you add your number. Maybe someone else could deliver the card on your 'friend's' behalf. Even better, if you know or can find out were this guy lives, send something to his home. Whatever you do, the worst outcome is that he'll be flattered. Making the first move is always a big risk, but if you don't go for it you'll drive yourself crazy wondering what if, and maybe lose precious time together.

Do you have friends (who love Cupid)?

In the movie, "Clueless" (Cher & Dion) got the teachers together with coffee. You might try to find out what he likes to drink, and then have a friend play the Cher & DIon role where they kinda push the two of you together.

Even better yet, if you both have mutual friends, then a Valentines party would get you closer --- but I wouldn't recomend getting him somthing other than those cutsie Valentines Cards.

lets see...heres a story:last year i was a freshmen in hs and this guy i had started talking to(my best friends older brother)was a junior.i thought he was really cute and we had started talking a couple of months before.nothing really big or anything cause i was kinda shy around him and wed only talked in person like 5 times..most of it was on the computer...so then we were talkign and we decided neither of us had a valentine so we went to dinner.after dinner we were going to his car and he leaned over to unlock the door and as he came up i kissed him....weve been going out ever since...one year this vday! so i say you just ask him to go to dinner and if youre brave enough...do what i did..hopefully it works for you..it paid off for me!

This sounds very "Hypothetical"... lol... if it were, then there wouldn't be so many details. Try harder next time.

Get him a valentine card. Make it anonymous.
