When I was growing up,my pops told me if you are ever in trouble you can ask a policeman for help.Having almost lived my 4 score and 10 I have found that the Police really are not your friend. They are out to get all of your money they can and will lie, cheat and steal to make their supervisors happy so they will get promotions. Do you agree?

For the most part I do trust the police, however I leave a big caveat here...I'm a former cop myself and I've found that when you live in a big city, you're probably closer to the truth with your statement.

However, if you generally live in a suburb with a population below 200,000, you're more likely to find that the cops are very trustworthy.

In my own department in South Florida (City population of 100,000), I could honestly say I didn't trust about 5% of my own department (for various reasons). I find that percentage to be far higher in larger cities.

Fortunately, the percentages remain fairly small even in the big cities, but I remain more cautious when dealing with bigger city cops. In addition, most departments are trying to revive a more friendly way of dealing with the public called the, "Community Oriented Policing Program". It seems to improve the way officers deal with the public by reminding the officers that not everyone is a criminal.

I think you need to judge a person on their character. You're right that some cops are like this. I work in a city of over 200,000 as a cop and lived in a very small community. Next door neighbor used to sling dope right and left, have huge parties for his underage kids. Every time I called the local cops they looked at me like I was crazy. I watched a kid one night throw a beer can at the cop car, hitting it, and the kids all booing the cop as he drove away.
I got one of my buddies from another agency to look into. His departments narcs did a search warrant, got kids with dope, beer, and the kids parents had a sex room set up. All the kids were coming their to get high and have sex.
But as far as the local dumb as* Cops they didn't see anything was wrong with the kids getting drunk and high and the f'n Chief even told me that I was the problem.
The cops were so bad I moved out of the town. So yea dipshets are everywhere. But there are some good ones out there for the most part. Believe me we don't do it for the pay, and the ones who do it for the alleged power find out pretty quick it does not exist.

No. Not in the least. I don't trust our entire legal system simply because of you are guilty but you have the money you can buy your way out. I saw that first hand. The guy who killed my cousin, raped a classmate, and stole a brand new car, was out of prison before I graduated high school. I had stared high school when he did all that. The cops stood by and watched him chase her down the street shooting at her. You know what one cop told me? "Boy that ***** could run."

I've also been harrassed and arrested just because I was walking down the street. I was arrested THREE times for the exact same thing. Even though the cops knew I didn't have anything to do with it.

yes to an extent, some police officers are like that but not all and I'm sure they are more corrupt in some places than other
I know a lot of Police officers and i tell you what really bugs me the most, the ones that get out and do all the bad thats that they are suppose to protect us against, like i know this one who when off duty is always drinking and driving, and of course always gets away with it too, he was in a car accident a few years back and was asked to take a alcohol test and refused....it was completely over looked. Crap like that is what get me the most

I would agree with you more than not. For the most part the police are power hungry. According to studies over 90% of them have the same psychological profile as that of a criminal. So could it be that we are employing the wrong type to be in law enforcement? Hell no I don't trust them.

It is Violation time again!

I'd like to be as naive as i was bout 10 yrs ago, but if you go up to a cop these days he'll most likely tell you to"move along"if you're bleeding, or on fire, maybe you'll get help, but so far as ive seen, good luck.911 is a joke

50 - 50. It depends on who and which police you meet so far. Remember that, they just a human like we all do. But I trust many of them. Only certain that make things worse. I agree with your opinion for about the "Evil" police. But the real "Good" police, I will certainly not agree with your opinion.
