Bobby Taylor and Suzanne De Passe set up their audition with Motown.
Barry Gordy made the decision to sign them to his label, Motown.
Diana Ross has also been credited with their discovery.

Diana Ross. I have their first album on vinyl and it says, "Diana Ross presents the Jackson 5". Although Wikipedia says that Berry Gordy was introduced to them by Gary Indiana's mayor Richard G. Hatcher. Both of them signed the group to cut a record with Diana as their mentor.
