Good luck, Vista isn't cheap. Just Vista alone will cost you $300, and the system requirements are really high so the computer won't be cheap either.

As for anti-virus, there are a lot of good free versions around, but I haven't seen any yet that have a Vista version.

I guess it would depend on what you call "cheap", but I'm going to say no to the cheap desktop. Also, I recommend NOT getting Vista...you can look it up on the Internet to find reasons why not to get Vista, and there are MANY!!! On the other hand I know where you can get free, excellent anti-virus! AVG Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware.

Anti-Virus is the first link and Anti-Spyware is the second last.

Wal-mart is probably the cheapest place you could find one, if you have a monitor already, they have a Computer that is just the tower alone that is like $388.00, or they have another one with monitor for $548.00, I'm not sure if vista comes with the cheapest one but i know it compatible for the upgrading to vista.
oh and don't forget about places like Dell, and Gateway
if you have decent enough credit you may be able to get a good computer financed through one of those companys

Vista Home Premium cost like $150.00 alone.

You get what you pay for, but computers are not expensive as they used to be, you should not have to pay over 400 dollers with rebates.
